Landmann’s journey through Portugal published in 1818 is full of beautiful depictions of the country, but is accompanied by an extremely turgid history of Portugal. The book reproduces all of the beautiful images, alongside contemporary descriptions of the places depicted, including his personal account of the Battle of Vimiero; enhancing the book significantly. A copy of the original could cost you £10,000, but this improved volume can be purchased for a fraction of the cost and would be a superb addition to anybody’s colection.
